Moisture, dust, cleaning water, and temperature changes can damage an unsuitable lighting system. Selecting waterproof LED strip lights requires more than checking the IP number. The environment, connectors, power supply, and maintenance conditions should all be reviewed before ordering.

Match the IP Rating to the Location

An IP65 LED strip light is commonly used in sheltered outdoor areas, signs, canopies, and locations exposed to splashes. An IP67 LED strip light offers stronger temporary water protection and suits exposed façades, wet zones, and areas where rainwater may collect.

Continuous immersion requires a product designed for that condition. An IP rating alone does not confirm resistance to sunlight, chemicals, bending, or extreme temperatures.

Check More Than the Strip Body

Outdoor failures often begin at cut ends, cable entries, connectors, controllers, or power supplies. Their protection level should match the strip. Factory-sealed leads are usually more reliable than field connections.

For waterproof LED strips for outdoor, confirm whether the strip may be cut on site and how each cut must be resealed. Matched end caps, adhesive, clips, connectors, and instructions should be included.

Low-voltage strips suit cabinets, shelves, and short decorative runs because they are easy to cut and control. High-voltage strips can simplify long installations by reducing power-feed points, but they require stronger insulation and secure connections.

Before production, provide voltage, total length, maximum single run, wattage per meter, color temperature, dimming method, IP target, and ambient temperature. This helps an outdoor LED strip light supplier match the strip, accessories, and power system.

Prevent Installation Problems

Aluminum channels can protect the strip and assist heat control. Drainage should stop water from remaining around joints and end caps. Sharp bends, unsupported cables, and unsealed cuts should be avoided.

Samples should be tested with the final connectors, power supply, and mounting method. A suitable IP rating, reliable sealing, compatible accessories, and careful planning help reduce corrosion, brightness loss, and maintenance.
